For these reasons, make sure that you choose a machine washable material. Remember if your chosen fabric is ‘dry clean only’ to add the cost of this to your budget.  Over the lifetime of your curtains this can get rather pricey.

Having decided on a fabric, your thoughts should now move on to light. It is not very pleasant standing in front of a window that you cannot see out of. Nor do you want the entire neighborhood bear witness to your sunken soufflés.

So depending on where your window is located, and the amount of light you want to flood into your kitchen, you need to choose the color and texture of your dressing.

Better safe than sorry, and you may find that suppliers are less than sympathetic if you try to return your purchase based on the fact that you got your measurements wrong.
